VMK (Virtual Magic Kingdom)

Alright, so just for a fair warning, this post will be sort of lengthy.

So in case some of those who do not know, I shall explain it to you!
VMK was a massively multiplayer online game ran by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online. It was a virtual representations of the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom theme parks, with minigames that were based on real park scenery and attractions. It was launched in 2005 as part of the Happiest Celebration on Earth promotional campaign to celebrate 50 years of Disney theme parks. Of course, they had no idea so many people would actually be playing it for so long and would love it so much. (Including myself).

There were all sorts of stuff you could do. You could ride rides such as the Peter Pan's Flight, or the Alice in Wonderland ride. You could attempt to pull out the sword in the stone. You could even trade things, such as furnish, clothing, and even PINS! You could have multiple themed rooms, and just explore other places and have a blast! They had lands just like Disneyland, like Main Street USA, Fantasyland, and Adventureland, and all the others! It really was a blast.

Unfortunately, 4 years ago they closed the website/game down in 2008. They said it was because it was only started to promote the 50 years of Disney, that they didn't expect so much out of it, plus it was free so zero prophet.

But aside from all of that, I just made this post to see if any of you fellow Disnerds had also played this game and enjoyed it like I did! You can post any pictures you have saved, or videos. Maybe share some stories, memories, experiences!

And for those of you who have not ever gone through of experiencing this lovely game, here is a "VMKRevisited" site. It's basically JUST like the game, except no characters, you just explore around. You guys have fun!

I was thinking about posting something for this! VMK was my life until it closed. I had High School Muscal everything and got all my friends into playing.

I agree! I literally played VMK everyday.. I was so addicted. I kind of tried to keep my friends from knowing about it, LOL.. I didn't want everyone else to know about it. XD

I never got a chance to play D; I think I tried to once but it was lost at me at age 11 aha!

I remember my friend I went to Disneyland and there were quests that got you special cards only found in Disney parks. I think I still have them somewhere around my desk.

VMK was my life from 6th-8th grade. I was leader of one of the waterslide competition teams (lol our ride was terrible), made music videos, and would use the people I was with in Disney to get more quest rewards.

I once counted my quest cards as being 90-something. I'll have to see if I still have any.

I know how that feels. I had tons more, but it was either an update or desire to purge myself of the mental embarrassment of spending so much time on it that the bulk of my pictures are gone. Those were saved to my PhotoBucket.

Speaking of, since I'm essentially a PhotoBucket packrat I found some pictures I'd taken of VMK Central at WDW:

Boy does all this bring back memories! Those pictures are great. Unfortunately I was too young to figure out how to screenshot. But I never went on VMKrevisited before and now I can't get off it!

I'm looking at those cards and thinking to myself, wow.. I actually had some of those, almost all, in the game. XD
